Trends.

A huge part of working in fashion is following trend forecasting.
I remember when I first heard clogs were coming in. I was like "clogs. Like clog clogs? Dutch wooden clogs? That is ridiculous". And then clogs were huge and I really loved them.

Same went for the trend which has just passed with the brights. When I heard neon-type colours were coming back in I think I rolled my eyes with such vigour you could probably hear the sound from a mile away.

Apparantly the next trend is Jewel tones. Anything from emerald to citrine. It also has a 1940's influenced feel.

Thank goodness! So much more depth of colour!

I got accommodation in Sydney! Yay! $135 a week apparantly. Still waiting to hear if it's furnished or not. It's going to be very painful if it's not because it's super annoying to buy house contents if I'm only there for six months. Hmm.

Gisborne.

Went and visited my good friend Shevaun today. The last time I drove out her way was for her wedding day so it was definitely overdue. Shev lives in Gisborne which is about an hour's drive from Melbourne. After stopping off at the op-shop near her house to snap up some ridiculously good sales she took me to Woodend to a lovely cafe which made smashingly good coffee. Yummy food too.

We then drove over to the lavender farm in Daylesford but unfortunately the lavender wasn't in bloom (surprise surprise... it is flipping COLD here) so we had a bit of fun trying to skip along the swing bridge but refused to pay the $3.50 entry for no lavender so drove back into Daylesford. Here we stopped off at Frangos and Frangos for some pear and frangipani pie and then visited the Daylesford Bazaar. Which, of course, was my type of place.

On the drive from Woodend to Daylesford I had seen a beautiful cemetery which I guessed would soon get the beautiful setting sun over the hill so after we were done at the Bazaar we hurried back to try and catch the light before it was too low. Sure enough we only got about ten minutes of good lighting.

What I wore:
Hat: Sportsgirl
Dress: Op-shop
Belt: Op-shop
Black velvet cardigan: Savers
Boots: Target
Rings: Rosebud market and Cambodian market.
Photos of me thanks to Shevaun Worrell.

And as for Sydney news... I have been approved for accommodation. Thank goodness! Now just to find a job. I'm definitely going to be embracing the life of a poor student! Should be fun though and it will definitely stretch me if nothing else.

The Mill Markets.

I treated myself to a trip to the 'Mill Markets' on the way home from Geelong. Three-leveled old warehouse space filled with vintage treasures! I was there for hours. It makes me look forward to oneday having my own place which I can decorate in the way I like. I have been watching 'The Block' too so that's probably sparked my decorating interests again.

I bought a skirt, a jacket and two dresses for $5 a pop each. Very happy with my purchases!

If you get a chance definitely check it out. Website is here: Mill Markets.

In other news, I finally got sent the application for accommodation today so hopefully within the next few days I will have somewhere to live. As for a job, I'm applying for internal positions with Sportsgirl. Here's to hoping! I've already given away/sold heaps of my possessions and resigned fron Sportsgirl here so I have no choice but to go now!

The move.

I don't know how many people feel that sudden pull to up and change their life. I always knew I was impulsive but this is a huge deal for me; I am embarking on an adventure and moving from Melbourne to Sydney.

It's not because I don't love Melb. It's beautiful, it's artistic, it's laid-back and friendly. I don't really know anyone in Sydney but I hear rumors that it's not so friendly, constantly busy and a little bit more uptight. And yet I feel the urge to have a change of scenery. I will be finishing my degree. At this stage I have no job and nowhere to live. I move in two weeks. Eep.

So this blog is to follow the adventure! I will be living out of home for the first time so I'm sure there is much to learn! I'm hoping to delve into the culture of Sydney and report back on my findings!

The main things I will miss about Melbourne other than of course family and friends will be:

1. The plethora of brilliant gigs from up-and-coming Aussie artists.
2. Underground culture.
3. Fitzroy.
4. Cheap but fantastic Asian cuisine- especially Vietnamese.
5. Amazing coffee.
6. Easy-to-navigate roads
7. Trams!
8. My favourite op-shops.
9. My hairdresser :-(
10. Peninsula beaches.
11. The Yarra river making the City look so pretty.
12. My church.
13. Bimbos cheap pizza.
14. Mount Dandenong.

Hopefully some of those can be either equalled or beaten!
